Basic Industrial Irradiation Dosimetry
Objective
To enable the participants to carry out routine dosimetry activities required in the daily operation of an industrial irradiation facility.
Participants
This hands-on course is intended for operations personnel who have not previously been involved in routine dosimetry or who require an understanding of routine dosimetry.
Frequency and Duration
This two-day course is usually offered once or twice a year. Additional courses can be scheduled for groups of five or more. This course can also be delivered at other locations if a local industrial irradiator can be made available.
Content
- Full irradiator commissioning dosimetry (dose mapping)
- Use of Harwell dosimeters
- Use of Far-West Technology nylon film and Opti-Chromic dosimeters
- Use of Ceric-Cerous dosimeters
- Calibration and traceability
- Practical exercises
- Documentation to meet AAMI recommendations
This course is included in the Industrial Irradiator Operator course, but is also available to other participants.
