What is RSS?

RSS is an XML-based format for sharing and distributing Web content, such as news headlines. Using an RSS reader, you can view data feeds from various news sources, such as Nordion, including headlines, summaries and links to full stories.

RSS readers will download and display RSS feeds for you. A reader, also known as a "feed reader" or "aggregator", can be used over the web, through your browser, on your desktop, through e-mail (i.e. Outlook 2007) or mobile-device.

To subscribe to an RSS feed, simply copy the feed address into the standalone reader or, for a web- or e-mail-based reader, click on the RSS icon in a web browser to initiate the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.
