Carlo has over 16 years of experience working with radiation and sterilization.
Carlo oversees Nordion’s Gamma Centre of Excellence. He has worked on multiple collaborations involving radiation processing—from medical devices to food packaging. Carlo is a member of ASTM.
MSc. Polymer Materials Specialist, Gamma Technologies
Fatima has a variety of expertise in radiation effects on polymer materials, pharmaceuticals and gamma sterilization.
Fatima is the Technical Manager of the Dosimetry lab at Nordion and a member in the ASTM Radiation Processing: Dosimetry and Applications Subcommittee. She is also a member in the American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and Parenteral Drug Association (PDA). Fatima has publications in various peer reviewed journals including the Radiation Physics and Chemistry, PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Polymer, and Dyes and Pigments. Fatima holds a Masters degree in Organic and Polymer Chemistry and Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Biotechnology both from Carleton University.
PhD, Radiation Physicist, Gamma Technologies
Chris has over 13 years of experience studying and applying radiation physics in academic and industrial applications.
Chris supports gamma technologies and is an expert at radiation physics and mathematical modeling. He is also a member on the ASTM E61 Radiation Processing: Dosimetry and Applications sub-committee, and a member of ISO TC85 and WG3. Chris holds an MSc degree from Queen’s University and a PhD from the University of Alberta.
P.Eng, MSc. Biomedical Engineering, Technical Authority for Sealed Sources
Tom is Nordion’s technical expert for sealed sources. This includes their design, testing, certification, fabrication, use, recycling and disposal. Tom is a member of Professional Engineers of Ontario and has more than 25 years of experience in the field of radioactive sources, biomedical engineering, medical devices and self-contained irradiators. Tom is a an active member and co-convener of the “Sealed Sources” working group (WG11) on the International Standards Organization’s Technical Committee on “Nuclear energy, nuclear technology and radiological protection” (TC 085). Tom holds a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland.
