BC Cancer FoundationIn 2011, Nordion’s Vancouver employees will participate in the Ride to Conquer Cancer® benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation. The ride is a unique, two-day cycling event from Vancouver to Seattle. Money raised will support leading clinicians, scientists and researchers whose search for new discoveries and improved patient outcomes will have a real impact in our communities throughout the province of British Columbia, across Canada, and around the world. |

Canadian Blood ServicesNordion holds quarterly on-site blood donor clinics at its Ottawa, Ontario campus. In 2010, Nordion joined the CBS “Partners for Life” program – a nationwide program for corporate and community organizations to further demonstrate the company’s commitment to saving lives through blood donation. To date, Nordion employees have donated over 320 units of blood, enough to help 888 people - this number continues to grow. |

Canadian Red CrossTo assist the many victims of the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Nordion donated $10,000 to the Canadian Red Cross. |
Médecins sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF)In 2010, Nordion announced an exciting new addition to our community relations program - Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF). DWB/MSF is an international medical humanitarian organization working in more than 60 countries to assist people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe. Similar to Nordion, MSF positively affects the lives of millions of people around the world and their international reach allows for Nordion employees throughout the globe to give back – meaning employees can all make a difference, together. Through payroll deductions and one-time giving, Nordion employees pledged $14,500 to MSF in 2010/2011. |

Ottawa Food BankNordion holds an annual food drive during the holiday season in support of the Ottawa Food Bank. In 2010, Nordion employees donated two boxes of non-perishable food items to help feed those who are less fortunate in our community. |

Sens FoundationNordion is proud to be the Family Fun Zone sponsor for the Sens Foundation’s 2011 Walk, Roll & Run in support of Roger’s House. The Walk, Roll & Run is a non-competitive and pledge driven event for families, friends, neighbours, classmates, organizations and teams of any kind to raise money for Roger’s House – an eight bed home that provides a comprehensive pediatric respite and palliative care program with elements of outreach, residential hospice, pain and symptom management, grief and bereavement counseling, and research. As part of the Walk, Roll & Run, Nordion is also sponsoring Roger’s Dream Team, which pairs the company with a Roger’s House child and their family to encourage and engage fundraising support. |
