Strontium 82 Radiochemical

Sr-82

Sr-82 decays into rubidium-82 (Rb-82) and is used in Sr-82/Rb-82 generators for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to distinguish normal and abnormal myocardium using rest and stress tests. Perfusion studies with Rb-82 can also be combined with F-18 Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) imaging to provide an overall image of blood supply and viable regions of the heart.
