We don’t just make a living – we make a difference.
As a community partner, we support a variety of initiatives that make a positive contribution to the health and well-being of people. Our community outreach is focused on Employee Giving, Corporate Giving and Community Giving. We are making a meaningful difference in the communities where we live and work.
Each quarter, Nordion makes up to three donations of $1,000 each to registered Canadian charities nominated by employees. Over the past five years we have donated over $60,000 dollars.

Katie selected Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing (CADS). After her husband was paralyzed in an accident, the incredible volunteers at CADS taught him to ski again. This allowed her family to continue to enjoy the sport they all love.
I’m thrilled that this donation will continue to support this awesome program.– Katie
We encourage our employees to give back to organizations of their choice through our Volunteer Day Program by providing them with one paid day per calendar year to volunteer. Over the past number of years, more than 200 Nordion employees volunteered almost 1500 hours.
By taking an active role in our communities, we are making a difference in the lives of people and families where we live and work. We want our communities to be stronger, healthier and happier. We believe that it’s our business, our commitment and our responsibility to make the world a better place for everyone.
Here are some of the organizations we support.
Nordion makes a difference in its communities by giving to those who are less fortunate. We donate regularly to relief and recovery efforts around the world. Most recently, we donated to Fort McMurray as a result of the wildfires, and supported crisis response through local community charities. Another example comes from our Vancouver team where employees hold an annual Winterfest Celebration to raise funds for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The Food Bank is able to purchase $3 of food for every dollar donated. Our Vancouver team has held this event for over 5 years and collected close to $20,000.
