This Cookie Policy describes the types of cookies and other tracking technologies Sotera Health LLC and its affiliates and subsidiaries, as applicable, (collectively, “Sotera Health”, “we”, “our” or “us) use on soterahealth.com, sterigenics.com, nelsonlabs.com, nordion.com, rcainc.com, and other websites that may link to this Policy (“Site” or “Sites”). This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies, their purposes, and how you can control them.

 

What is a Cookie?

Cookies are small data files that are downloaded to your device when you visit our Site. Cookies allow us to recognise your device. They may gather data about your use of our Site, or otherwise enable us to recognise you as an existing customer when you return to our Site at a later date. Other tracking technologies, such as web beacons, pixel tags, log files and identifiers associated with your device, also may be used to automatically collect certain information from you. We refer to all of these and similar technologies as “cookies” for purposes of this Cookie Policy.

 

How We Use Cookies

What Information We Obtain Through Cookies

The information we obtain through cookies includes your traffic data, location, logs, device IP address, identifiers associated with your devices, types of devices connected to our services, operating system, network location, browser type, web browser characteristics, device characteristics, language and country preferences, referring URLs, exit pages, clickstream data and other information on actions taken on our Sites, error information, and dates and times of website visits, language your system uses, and country and time zone in which your device is located.

 

Categories of Cookies

We use both session and persistent cookies on our Sites. Session cookies are temporary cookies that are erased from your device when you close your internet browser. These cookies enable our Sites to remember your preferences for the duration of your visit. Persistent cookies are stored on your device until they either expire, or you delete them. Persistent cookies are often performance and analytical cookies, which enable our Site to remember you when you visit again in the future. Some of the cookies used are “first party cookies“, which are set and controlled by us, and some of them “third-party cookies“ set by external providers.

  • Strictly Necessary – These cookies are essential to enable you to move around our Site and use its features. For example, these cookies allow our Sites to remember the choices you make and provide the features you have requested. It is not possible to disable these cookies in our Cookies Preference Center, as doing so may encumber the Sites’ security and make certain features or content unavailable. Strictly necessary cookies are used to collect information such as session ID, server information and authentication data, and indicate whether you have accepted notices, consents and policies, and are eligible to access certain content displayed on our Sites. These cookies expire when you close your browser session or within a short period of time thereafter.   • Analytics – These cookies allow us to analyze information about how you use our Site. We also use advertising cookies to conduct retargeting activities, market research and measure the effectiveness of an advertising campaign and our marketing efforts, including understanding what Site content is interesting to our email subscribers. We partner with third parties to provide you with connections to certain social networks (such as Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube) and to provide you with advertising on such media and additional features such as the ability to see videos. Where required by applicable law, advertising cookies will be placed on your device by us or by a third party with your consent. These technologies (including via pixels, plug-ins and widgets) may provide the third parties information about your visit so that they can present you with digital content on social media, including advertisements for our products and services which may be of interest to you. These third parties may receive information from our Sites for their own purposes.

 

Google Analytics

Subject to your consent, the Sites use Google Analytics to allow us to analyze and regularly improve the use of our Sites. Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google”). For analyzing the use of our Site with Google Analytics, cookies are stored on your device.

When using our Sites, the following information will be collected in connection with Google Analytics:

  • the pages you call up, your “click behavior”
  • first-time use of our Sites
  • achievement of “website goals” (g., conversions, newsletter registrations, downloads)
  • your user behavior (g., clicks, scrolls, time spent, bounce rates, links used; interaction with videos; search requests, downloads, language settings)
  • your approximate location (region)
  • your IP address (in abbreviated form)
  • technical information about your browser and the end devices you use (g., language settings, screen resolution)
  • your internet provider
  • the referrer URL (via which website/advertising medium you came to our Sites).

Google will use this information on our behalf to evaluate your use of our Sites and to compile reports on the activities. The reports provided by Google Analytics are used to analyze the performance of our Sites.

Access by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, Alphabet Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA and/or US authorities to the data stored by Google cannot be ruled out and there may be no effective legal remedies against access by US authorities. To the extent personal data is processed in a country outside the European Economic Area that does not provide for an adequate level of data protection, such as for example currently the USA, we have entered into contractual safeguards based on EU Standard Contractual Clauses with Google. Google LLC has also certified itself under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Please see also below the section “International Transfers”.

We have also taken the following measures to protect, to the extent possible, the data collected through Google Analytics:

  • We have concluded a data processing agreement with Google about how Google may process the data collected through Google Analytics, including data transfer provisions, as required under applicable law.
  • We have configured Google Analytics to not share data with third parties.
  • We do not use the function User-ID.
  • We do not use other Google services in conjunction with Google Analytics.
  • We have not activated the signals option.

The personal data sent by us to Google and associated with these cookies is deleted after 2 years.

Where required by applicable law, the legal basis for such processing is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in the manner specified below. Your consent is voluntary and will not affect the functionality of your use of our Sites.

You can prevent the collection of data related to your use of our Sites (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of this data by Google by:

  • by rejecting the Google Analytics cookies or all cookies in our Cookies Preference Center;
  • for website-based use, downloading and installing the browser add-on to disable Google Analytics [HERE]; or
  • by configuring your browser software accordingly to reject (all) cookies. However, if you configure your browser to reject all cookies, this may limit functionality on this Site and other websites.

Google Consent Mode

We use the so-called Google Consent Mode when using Google services such as Google Analytics. Google Consent Mode works together with our Cookies Preference Center. Google Consent Mode takes the user’s consent options from our cookie banner and transfers them to Google. If you give your consent for Google Analytics, for example, this decision will also be transmitted to Google. As a so-called “Gatekeeper” pursuant to the EU Digital Markets Act (“DMA”), Google must ensure that users have consented to the processing of their personal data by Google, before personal data of users is processed for personalized advertising. We currently use Google’s advanced consent mode. Cookie Configuration Settings

Our cookie banner allows you to accept, reject or customize the cookies used on our Sites. Where required by applicable law, with the exception of cookies that are related to any strictly necessary purposes, we will block all non-essential cookies until you provide your consent thereto. However, if you choose to delete or not accept any of our non-essential cookies, some areas of our Sites may take more time to work or not function properly.

We obtain your consent via our Cookies Preference Center, where required by applicable law. You can choose whether you consent to some or all of our cookies. You can customize and withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (except concerning strictly necessary cookies) in our Cookies Preference Center.
