Emergency Response Training Exercise

On October 22, 2020, Nordion evacuated the administrative RE building as part of an emergency response exercise. The ability to safely evacuate the occupants of any building is very important to mitigate the impact of an emergency. Nordion holds exercises involving practice evacuations on a regular basis as part of its Emergency Management Program to ensure appropriate preparedness for the unlikely event of an emergency at the Nordion site.

Emergency Response Training Exercise

Nordion is holding a training exercise on October 9th at approximately 9 am to test our emergency response plan as part of our efforts to build and maintain a strong emergency management program. This exercise includes the participation of Ottawa Fire Services, who may have emergency vehicles on site. Joint exercises are important for both Nordion and Ottawa emergency services in order to improve response capabilities and ensure an integrated response in the unlikely event that there is an emergency at the Nordion site.

Evacuation of Nordion’s KOB Building due to False Alarm

At approximately 8:05 pm on April 6, 2020 Nordion evacuated our facility as a result of a fire alarm. The alarm proved to be false. As per Ottawa Fire Services practices, a fire truck was dispatched and was briefly on site to validate the false alarm.

Vehicle Accident on Property

On March 12, 2020 at approximately 10:50 am a member of the public was driving on Nordion’s private road and hit a snowbank. Police and ambulance personnel were called to the scene.  There was no property damage as a result of this accident.
